The Client:
One of the best jobs I’ve ever had was being a teacher. The new administration at First Bilingual Preparatory School (FBPS) was upgrading their technology program and brought me on board to help. Our goal was to create a website that showcased the great programs and staff at the school. I suggested we make the project part of an extra curricular activity called Digital Design & Publishing. This would mean the students would create all the online, and offline promotion for the school.
The Job:
Our first goal was to update the Google My Business page to increase visibility for local search. This immediately increased inquiries from organic search in the local area. Our next Goal was to create a web page that showed the uniqueness of the FBPS curriculum and showcase their 25 years of experience in Bilingual Education.
Our final goal was to give examples of the incredible talent in FBPS. We accomplished this by creating a student run blog that included art, poetry, writing and music. These works were linked from FBPS to the blog: www.teenvoicefbps.com. Along with the blog the students published a bi-weekly email and maintain the Facebook page. They learned to use WordPress, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premier and Asana for project management.
The Results:
Our goal was to create an online community for parents and students, while at the same time creating a window into our school. Both parents and students showed a positive response to the emails and the student blog. Our organic search results went up by 50% between Google My Business and local organic search for “bilingual schools.”
